We’re delighted to announce the winning name for the little Icelandic colt who has captured hearts across the UK and beyond. 

We’re delighted to share that our Director of Fundraising and Communications, Dawn Vincent, has been appointed to the board of the National Equine Welfare Council (NEWC). Dawn was elected as a non-executive director at NEWC’s recent AGM in September – a recognition of her expertise and leadership in the sector.  

In an exceptional collaboration, The Mare and Foal Sanctuary has worked alongside two other charities to lead a 15-month operation to protect 70 rare-breed horses and foals in Devon. 

Veteran presenter Angela Rippon has made a heartfelt appeal supporting ponies in need and remembering the emotional bond she shared with her own beloved horse ‘Katie’.

We’re delighted to share that a critically neglected pony, rescued in a shocking case that appalled the presiding judge, has found a wonderful new home in South Wales.

Teenager Amy from Plymouth says learning sessions in partnership with our rescued horses at Coombe Park Equestrian and Education Centre have helped her to control her emotions and develop a deeper connection with animals.  

At The Mare and Foal Sanctuary, we’re known for rescuing horses and ponies across the South West, but last week, we ended up rescuing something a little different: a wedding day!
