Sasha

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 23

Breed: Moorland

Height: 12hh

Gender: Mare

Colour/Markings: Dun

Personality
Sasha is a gentle mare who needs time to settle and bond with a new carer. She’s relaxed in her own company and can take time to mix with other equines. She would be best suited to a quiet home with a few ponies where she can be given the time and attention to grow and flourish.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Sasha has arthritis in both hocks and is managed with the use of veterinary prescribed joint supplement and anti-inflammatory medication. She is being rehomed on our Prime Pastures scheme, where we can contribute towards the cost of her veterinary care and medication.

Training Level:

Sasha is good to handle and remains calm for the farrier and vets.

Sasha's Past

Sasha came to us in 2022 when her owner could no longer care for her.

Sasha's Future

Rehoming Fee: Not applicable

Rehoming fee: Not applicable as Sasha is eligible for the Prime Pastures scheme.

Sasha would benefit from a home with a carer wanting to look after a quieter, more sensitive older girl. She is happy to be left in the stable, making her the ideal companion pony.

Being a native pony, Sasha will need her grazing and weight monitored to avoid obesity.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Sasha as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
