Health and Training

Health Status:

Phanta has sweet itch, an allergic reaction to the saliva of midges, which will need management with rugs at certain times of the year. She has a hind limb stiffness so is currently on a joint supplement and needs more regular dental check-ups from a vet so she is being rehomed on our Prime Pastures scheme where we can contribute towards the cost.

Training Level:

Phanta is not undergoing any training. She is well behaved and confident for the vet and farrier. She does enjoy short walks to help with hind end stiffness.

Phantasie 's Past

Phanta came to the Sanctuary as part of our 2018 merger with another charityWe don’t know much about her time before then.

Phantasie 's Future

Rehoming Fee: £0

Phanta would be best suited to a home where her new family will spend time fussing and grooming her. She also enjoys any training, enrichment and going for walks. Phanta would need a carer who is willing to manage her sweet itch, and a coastal, windy or exposed location would be ideal, but not essential.

Phanta is not fazed by a busy yard but is also relaxed when the yard is quiet. She is a very sweet pony who enjoys attention and fuss. She has previously lived with mares and geldings and gets on well with more laid back field companions. She does require restricted grazing to help with her weight and respects electric fences.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Phanta as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
