Cas

Cas

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 11

Breed: Welsh Pony

Height: 11.3hh

Gender: Mare

Colour/Markings: Chesnut

Personality
Cas is a laid back and relaxed pony. We feel she would thrive in a one to one home.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Cas has had Sarcoids treated in 2021, so this would need monitoring. She has a mild lameness but is paddock sound, and requires her to be cold shod in front every five weeks. She is being rehomed on our prime pastures scheme where we contribute towards the cost. She also needs six-monthly dentals.

Training Level:

Cas has been trained using positive reinforcement methods to give her confidence for syringe, injections and the hosepipe, which has been very successful. She is now on maintenance training for this.

Cas's Past

Cas arrived with us as a very young foal at foot as part of a multi-agency welfare rescue for a group of abandoned ponies.

Cas's Future

Rehoming Fee: £0

Cas would require a home that has restricted grazing, as she can gain weight easily. She has only been out with mares at the Sanctuary and is good to introduce to others. She respects electric fencing.

Cas does require some maintenance training which she seems to enjoy, so would be suited to someone who also enjoys training.

When she goes for walks, she can be a little unsure of large vehicles and just requires them to pass slowly. She has previously done some in hand agility and loves enrichment.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Cas as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
