Deputy Shop Manager (Torquay)
Salary Band: H.2 £25,173 per annum, pro rata with access to private health and corporate discounts
This role is based in Torquay town centre and has core hours of 30 per week.
- Shift time: 08.45- 16.45
- Number of shifts per week: 4
- Preferred days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday during peak season and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday during off peak trading
What You’ll Be Doing:
Staff & Customers
Picture this—customers, donors, and volunteers walking into a friendly oasis. You’ll make them feel welcome, enticing donors to join the Gift Aid Scheme. Your charisma will lead volunteers through effective induction and training. Any issues or complaints? You’ll handle them with charm. Promoting the shop and The Mare & Foal Sanctuary to the public? Your passion will shine. And your actions? They’ll enhance our sanctuary’s reputation. Collaborate with our Fundraising and Communications team to create captivating campaigns and elevate our events.
Sales/Performance
Partner with the Shop Manager to smash targets and budgets. Stay ahead of the game, keeping an eye on local competition, trends, and opportunities.
Shop Appearance & Fabric
Imagine a shop that’s not just a store but a showcase of elegance. You’ll craft a space that’s commercial, stylish, and inviting. Cleanliness and organisation will be your signature. Maintenance issues or safety concerns will be addressed promptly. You will ensure accidents and near misses are reported and you will prioritise safety with finesse.
Stock
Donations will pour in, and you’ll welcome them like treasures. Gift Aid stock will take the spotlight. Quality is your mantra, pricing items with precision, while your skill in presenting stock will turn it into an appealing and effortlessly sellable collection.
Procedures & Expectations
You’ll handle finances and valuables meticulously. Your expertise with the EPoS system will be exceptional. Following established procedures will be your standard practice. When it comes to training, you’ll actively pursue opportunities to improve your skills. As for working in different locations, you’ll be adaptable and ready for diverse challenges.

Your customer care skills will be outstanding. You’ll excel whether working independently or as part of a team, adapting effortlessly to changing environments. Your knowledge of health and safety will be a valuable asset. You’ll have a strong aptitude for management, IT, and social media. Handling finances will be a breeze, and your UK driving license will open up new opportunities.
