Age: 1 yr 6months

Breed: Welsh

Personality
Netty is a sweet natured pony who enjoys interacting with other horses, ponies and people. She is a quick learner and loves exploring new situations. She enjoys going out for walks, discovering new enrichment and playing with objects both in her stable and in the arena. She is good for the farrier and vet when given the time to process what is happening. She enjoys fuss and a groom with people she knows.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Netty has no ongoing health conditions.

Training Level:

Netty has undergone lots of handling training since coming to us and is now good to do everything. She goes for walks and could progress to doing more groundwork. She has recently had positive reinforcement training for needles, which is something we would want to continue in her new home to ensure she is confident with vet visits in the future.

Netty's Past

Netty was rescued as a foal at foot with her mum Nia at approximately 6 weeks old, as part of a large multi-agency operation we were involved with on the Welsh Commons. Find out more about Netty’s story here

Netty's Future

Rehoming Fee: £50

Netty would benefit from a home with a carer who is experienced with youngsters and can continue her education. She would work well with someone calm, who will give Netty the time and confidence to learn and process new experiences.

Netty would manage well at a busy or a quiet yard. She could live out 24/7, but also enjoys coming into the stable. She could live with mares, geldings or other youngsters and respects electric fencing. Netty is good to be left alone in the stable if her companions leave, making her the ideal companion pony.

Being a smaller native type pony, her weight will need to be managed.

When older, Netty could be backed for ridden or driven work if her new family had the right experience.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Netty as she settles into her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
