Razzle

Razzle

Available

Rehome Classification: Razzle

Age: 16 years old

Breed: Native

Height: 13.1hh

Gender: Gelding

Colour/Markings: Bay

Personality
Razzle is a lovely calm pony and enjoys human interaction. He only has one eye, so he appreciates being spoken to when people approach him. He also prefers being led from his side with vision, as he can be a little anxious when leading from his blind side.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Razzle’s eyesight needs to be taken into consideration when interacting with him. He has mild lameness which is well managed with daily Bute. He will need regular vet checks for this which would be financially supported through our Prime Pastures scheme.

Training Level:

Razzle is not currently in training for anything specific.

Razzle  's Past

Razzle was relinquished as part of a multi-agency rescue led by the RSPCA. The case resulted in the prosecution of the owner for causing unnecessary suffering to animals.

You can find out more about the case here.

Razzle  's Future

Rehoming Fee: £0

Rehoming fee: not applicable because Razzle is eligible for our Prime Pastures scheme.

Razzle would benefit from a quiet home where his loss of sight is taken into consideration. Although he copes extremely well, his new family will need to be mindful of when interacting and approaching him.

He would need a home where his weight is monitored, as he is prone to excess weight gain if this is not controlled. He enjoys the companionship of others, but does become a little unsettled when one of his companions leaves, so he would need a constant companion. He has lived with both mares and geldings

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Razzle as he settles into his new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
