Health and Training

Health Status:

Daisy has no known health conditions.

Training Level:

Daisy is hacking out in walk and trot and has cantered in an open field in the company of other horses. She has been ridden in walk and trot in the school and lunges and long reins well. Daisy is uncomfortable with anything around her muzzle, such as suncream and syringes for worming. She can be successfully wormed by offering it in a feed.

Daisy's Past

We rescued Daisy alongside another pony in 2022. Both were huddled together on a small, raised mound, trying to keep out of the worst of the deep mud that surrounded them. They were unable to move around freely or lie down to sleep. You can read their story here.

Daisy's Future

Rehoming Fee: £1000

Daisy has coped well in a busy environment on open days, so we feel she would adapt and settle in any yard set up. She does well in a larger herd and has lived with mares and geldings in the past.

She is a very good doer and will need her weight monitoring and managed with restricted grazing and increased exercise as needed.

Daisy will need an experienced and sympathetic rider who will continue to build her confidence as she is newly backed. We will only consider experienced adult riders for her at this stage. Although Daisy will work in the arena, her ideal home with be with someone who wants to mostly hack out. Daisy is ridden in a bitless bridle and wears hoof boots on her front feet.

Please note, based on her weight and size, Daisy’s rider limit is 10 stone with a height limit of 5 ft 4.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Daisy as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
