High Intensity Welfare Unit Update

High Intensity Welfare Unit Update

Work on our wonderful new High Intensity Welfare Unit at Coombe Park Equestrian and Education Centre in Totnes is progressing well and we’re pleased to share that all of the foundation groundwork was completed in the autumn.

Since then the building has really started to take shape, as you can see from our latest pictures.

This is an exciting and valuable project that will make a big difference to the work of the Sanctuary. Our hope is that ‘The Rosemary Kind High Intensity Welfare Unit’ will become a UK centre for excellence with vet-led equine care and management for rescued horses and ponies with complex needs. The unit is named after the late founder of our charity and will provide sanctuary for our most vulnerable equines who will stay with us for life as they are unable to be rehomed. It will also provide a teaching space to enable us to share our expertise in equine welfare.

We are so grateful to our donors and supporters for their kindness and generosity, which has allowed us to reach this final stage in the project.

We anticipate that the building work will be fully completed in spring 2025 and we look forward to sharing more updates as the unit reaches completion.
