We recently told you about their rescue. Flint and Wurzel arrived at the sanctuary at just a few weeks old. Their joyful nature, zooming around and playing with teddy bears, has kept the team entertained. Wurzel being the older and more confident of the pair, was first to approach his handler for scratches and hasn’t stopped since, poo picking in peace is now impossible. He already wears a headcollar and happily picks all four feet. Flint was more reserved at first, but he’s now enjoying scratches too and is beginning head collar training.
Granny’s foal, Sherlock, certainly lives up to his name. He is very curious and loves to investigate everything that is happening, be it feeding, training or even trying to get involved with fixing a fence. He is described by his handler, Akira, as very friendly, playful and confident both within his herd and with people. Sherlock is doing well in his training and learns quickly. He is currently being trained for handling, grooming and picking up his feet. Akira said, “He can currently get a bit too excitable with food, so we are training him with scratches as a reward instead, which he loves”. He’s developing a strong friendship with another Icelandic foal Bowie and they love to play together.
