Help our shops make a difference
Every item sold in our charity shops helps change the lives of horses and ponies in need.
We are looking for a flexible and confident person to join our team as Relief Shop Manager, providing management cover across our charity shops when needed.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two weeks are the same. You will step in to lead shops during periods of holiday, sickness or other absence, ensuring the shop runs smoothly, sales opportunities are maximised and the team feels supported.
You will also support and encourage our dedicated volunteers, helping create a positive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.
What you will be doing
- Providing management cover across our four charity shops when required
- Leading shop teams including staff and volunteers
- Supporting sales through strong customer service, merchandising and stock presentation
- Managing donated stock and ensuring items are priced and displayed effectively
- Ensuring cash handling and Gift Aid processes are followed correctly
- Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming shop environment
- Supporting day-to-day social media activity when covering a shop
- Ensuring shops operate in line with retail procedures and health and safety requirements
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience in a retail supervisory or management role
- Strong customer service and commercial awareness
- Confidence managing staff and volunteers
- Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly
- Experience handling cash and maintaining accurate records
- A flexible and practical approach to supporting different shop locations
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel independently between sites
- Experience in charity retail or Gift Aid processes would be an advantage but is not essential.
Driving requirement
This role involves regular travel between our shops in Babbacombe, Bovey Tracey, Brixham and Newton Abbot, therefore applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel independently between sites. We also ask that you provide us with a copy of your vehicle insurance that covers business use (not just your commute). This ensures that you’re adequately covered while performing your duties.
