Tulip

Tulip

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion ( in training to potentially be ridden)

Age: 4

Breed: Moorland

Height: 12hh

Gender: Mare

Colour/Markings: Skewbald

Personality
Tulip is a young mare who likes mental stimulation and activity. She would benefit from an experienced handler with time to invest in her with consistent handling. Tulip would prefer to be out as much as possible but is happy to be part stabled as long as she has friends around, as she does get a little anxious when a companion is taken away. She is a lovely pony with a great character, but due to her age, Tulip would benefit from an experienced home with no small children.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Tulip has no health problems, but being a smaller native pony will need her grazing restricted to avoid obesity and laminitis.

Training Level:

In the past Tulip has been walked out in hand, met some traffic and has seen basic horse agility objects. Tulip does have the potential to be ridden in the future if her new family has the relevant experience. Based on her size and weight, her rider weight limit would be 5.5 stone.

Tulip's Past

Tulip was born in the Sanctuary. Her Dam was rescued as part of a multi-agency welfare case.

Tulip's Future

Rehoming Fee: £50

Tulip will require a home where her grazing can be restricted, especially over the summer months. Ideally, she would like to live with an equine with similar grazing requirements.

Tulip is currently living with Hattie, another sanctuary pony on loan with a carer near Beaworthy. Although we would love them to be rehomed together, this is not essential.

Tulip would suit an experienced home with no small children who has time to invest in her, with consistent handling.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Tulip as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
