Personality
Sherlock is a bright, confident young horse. He enjoys playing with other youngsters in his herd and lives up to his name, as he loves to investigate new things and has a naturally inquisitive nature. He is good to handle and enjoys attention and interaction with people.

Health Status:
Sherlock currently has no health conditions. As a smaller horse, he will need his weight monitoring.
Training Level:
Sherlock has been trained using positive reinforcement to build his confidence with wearing a headcollar, being led and having his feet handled. He is now relaxed and confident with all aspects of routine handling.
Sherlock's Past
Sherlock was part of a large multi-agency case. He came into the sanctuary as a foal with his dam Ebony, also known as Granny.

Sherlock's Future

Sherlock’s ideal home is one where he can continue to live with other youngsters, as he enjoys play and interaction. He could live with mares or geldings and can be out 24/7 or in a part-stabled routine.
He has not been left alone in a field or stable, so he will need a permanent companion and a gradual introduction to short periods by himself. Sherlock would suit someone with experience of youngsters and a real interest in positive handling methods.
Sherlock has the potential to be backed when he is fully mature. His rider and tack weight will be set at 15 per cent of his ideal adult body weight.
Sherlock is based at Honeysuckle Farm in Newton Abbot, Devon, and will need a minimum of two visits.
Our lovely Icelandic Horses have always lived in large herds, and wherever possible we would like them to remain together. However, we are happy to consider a range of rehoming options to suit their needs and those of their new carers. They can be rehomed individually, as a pair, or as a small herd. We will look at each placement carefully, based on each applicant’s experience, facilities and ability to provide suitable companionship.
