Pollianna

Pollianna

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 21

Breed: Moorland

Height: 10’2hh

Gender: Mare

Colour/Markings: Skewbald

Personality
Pollianna is gentle and timid pony. She finds comfort in her handler and would require a knowledgeable and calm environment.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Being a smaller native pony, careful weight management is required to avoid obesity and laminitis. She needs six-monthly lameness reviews and six-monthly dental checks. She is not on any medication.

Training Level:

Pollianna has been having positive reinforcement with clicker training for injections and worming. She responds well to this and in order to keep her calm and confident around the vet, we would need her new home to follow these methods. We are able to offer training and support for this.

Pollianna's Past

Pollianna came into our care in 2018 when we merged with another charity. We have limited information about her history prior to that time.

Pollianna's Future

Rehoming Fee: £50

Required number of visits: 3. Pollianna lives at our Upcott Park site, Near Holsworthy.

We are seeking a peaceful home for Pollianna, where she can be supported by calm, confident friends who have similar grazing needs. She thrives with gentle handling and responds best to calm, patient handlers who are willing to spend time getting to know her.

She is happy to be alone in a stable if her friends are taken away, making her the ideal companion pony.

She is respectful of electric fencing.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Pollianna as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
