Age: 15

Breed: Moorland

Piper is a confident pony and loves to be active. He enjoys going for walks and is confident when walking out and to handle. He enjoys human interaction and will happily be groomed.

Health and Training

Health Status:

No current health concerns. Piper does have a history of laminitis and equine metabolic syndrome, so his grazing will need restricting, and his weight managed.

Training Level:

Piper is not very confident when being wormed so we have been doing some positive reinforcement training with him.

Piper's Past

Piper came to the Sanctuary as part of our 2018 merger with another charity. We have few details of his life before this.

Piper's Future

Rehoming Fee: £75

Piper could live in a novice home as he is easy to handle. He is a very quick learner and has picked up his syringe training with ease. This is something that would need to be continued in his new home.

He would make a great companion equine. With an experienced family, he could be backed to be ridden once settled in. Based on his size and weight, his rider weight limit would be 6.5 stone.

Although Piper has been left on his own when other equines are exercised, he can become unsettled, so overcoming this may need some attention in a new environment.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Piper as he settles in his new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
