Health and Training

Health Status:

Although Magnum cannot be ridden due to a previous tendon injury, he can go for walks in hand. Magnum will need his weight watching to avoid obesity and laminitis. Magnum is on a low daily dose of medication for his mobility this will require monitoring by a vet so he is being rehomed on our Prime Pastures scheme where we can contribute towards the cost of this.

Training Level:

We feel Magnum will thrive with a good routine and one to one handling on a quiet yard. He is good with the vet and the farrier. He has started to meet traffic around the yard and appears unfazed. He had not done much outside a field before his arrival, but he is taking to new situations well, provided his hander remains calm and reassures him.

Magnum's Past

Magnum was rescued alongside four other equines in August 2021. His owners were suffering with their own health issues and this quickly led to unintentional neglect. The story of one of the four ponies, Hope, is featured here.

Magnum's Future

Rehoming Fee: £0

He is happy to live with mares or geldings but does not settle if left by himself so will always need equine company. He would respond best to a calm, confident carer who will allow him to build a bond of trust.

Magnum is being rehomed on our Prime Pastures scheme where we can contribute towards the cost of his medication.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Magnum as he settles in his new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
