Personality
Ida is a gentle mare with a playful, curious nature. She loves to explore and will happily investigate new sights and surroundings in freedom, at her own pace. Time with people is important to her as she thrives on close companionship with her handler. She enjoys being groomed and is eager to engage and show affection. Her grooms say she has a sweet nature and is a delight to spend time with. She has lived with mares, geldings and younger ponies.

Health and Training
Health Status:
Because Ida has a history of EMS and related laminitis, her management includes restricted grazing and soaked hay. She is not on medication at present as the condition is stable. Ida gains weight easily, so her diet and grazing need careful, ongoing management.
Training Level:
Ida can be wary of needles and syringes. We have been working with her using positive reinforcement. This training will need to continue in her new home and we will provide full guidance and support.

Ida was born in the Sanctuary after her dam was rescued.
Ida's Future
Rehoming Fee: £100
Ida needs a calm, committed home with someone who can manage her Equine Metabolic Syndrome with care and consistency. A companion on similar restricted grazing would be ideal.
She is an active pony and is regularly walked out in hand to help keep her weight stable. Ida enjoys human company and does well with a clear one-to-one bond. She likes to explore and try new things and has been introduced to some in-hand agility equipment.
Ida respects electric fencing and will settle in the stable on her own, so she is well suited as a companion pony.
She is currently based at our Yelverton site and prospective carers will need to visit twice.
