Personality
Hilda is a kind, very sweet-natured mare who has been a wonderful mother to her filly foal, Spirit. She is a quieter member of the herd, a watchful girl who is growing in confidence all the time.
Hilda enjoys connecting with her handlers and values her training time with them just as much as she enjoys simply being in their company. She has a calm approach to life and is good for both the vet and farrier.

Hilda has no known health conditions.
Training Level:
Hilda has taken part in handling training, as she arrived with limited experience of people. She has progressed well with positive reinforcement and is now confident with all aspects of handling and leading, as well as farrier and vet visits.
Hilda's Past
Hilda was rescued as part of a large multi-agency case in 2025. She arrived with her foal Spirit. You can read more about the rescue here.
Hilda's Future
Rehoming Fee: £350
Hilda would be best suited to a quieter yard. She could live with mares, youngsters or geldings. She has not been left alone in a field or stable, but this could be introduced gradually in a home where other horses are nearby in neighbouring fields or stables. Hilda could live out 24/7 or in a part-stabled routine.
Hilda is based at Honeysuckle Farm in Newton Abbot, Devon, and her new carers will need to visit her a minimum of twice.
Our lovely Icelandic Horses have always lived in large herds, and wherever possible we would like them to remain together. However, we are happy to consider a range of rehoming options to suit their needs and those of their new carers. They can be rehomed individually, as a pair, or as a small herd. We will look at each placement carefully, based on each applicant’s experience, facilities and ability to provide suitable companionship.
