Hattie

Hattie

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 14

Breed: Dartmoor Hill Pony

Height: 11hh

Gender: Mare

Colour/Markings: Bay

Personality
Hattie is a lovely little pony who is easy to handle in most situations. She is a very loveable character but can get quite bold so would be best suited to a more experienced home with no small children. Hattie is a sociable mare and will happily mix with mares and geldings.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Hattie has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and will require a dust-free bedding option and soaked hay. She will need her grazing restricted and her weight monitoring to avoid obesity and laminitis.

Training Level:

Hattie was trained to drive in the past but is now looking for a home as a non-working, companion equine. She can go for walks in hand and would enjoy in hand agility and different forms of enrichment.

Hattie's Past

Hattie was born in the Sanctuary. Her dam did not have any milk, so she was hand reared.

Hattie's Future

Rehoming Fee: Rehoming fee £50

Hattie will require a home where her grazing can be restricted, especially over the summer months. Ideally, she would like to live with an equine with similar grazing requirements.

Hattie is currently living with Tulip, another sanctuary pony on loan with a carer near Beaworthy. Although we would love them to be rehomed together, this is not essential.

Hattie would suit an experienced home with no small children.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Hattie as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
