Flynn

Flynn

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 11 years

Breed: Cob

Height: 14.3hh

Gender: Gelding

Colour/Markings: Piebald

Personality
Flynn is a wonderfully laid‑back, relaxed and confident gelding with a gentle temperament. He has a calm, easy‑going personality and loves nothing more than a good scratch. Spending time with him is always a pleasure; he is polite, well‑mannered and easy to handle. Flynn has lived in different herds within the Sanctuary and has always settled well with us. He is used to a busy yard environment and is confident around traffic and large farm machinery, taking everything in his stride.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Flynn is currently in good health and requires no medication. He was previously ridden, however now fully retired from ridden work due to a mild hind‑limb lameness which is monitored and assessed during his yearly vaccination and dental appointments. He will require some restricted grazing during the spring and summer months.

Training Level:

Flynn is not undergoing any behavioural training at present. He is excellent with both the vet and farrier, easy to handle, and respectful of electric fencing.

Flynn's Past

Flynn came to us after he was abandoned, along with a number of other equines. He was signed over to The Mare and Foal Sanctuary by the RSPCA in 2015

Flynn's Future

Rehoming Fee: £250

Flynn would be suited busy or quiet home. He can live out or could be part stabled. He is very relaxed horse who enjoys grooming and food based enrichment.

He has not been left on his own before, so he would be best suited to a home where his companion does not regularly leave him, or where this can be introduced to him slowly, in a positive manner.

Flynn is a truly lovely horse who brings a calm, steady presence wherever he goes, and he will make a wonderful addition to the right home.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Flynn as he settles in his new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
