Daniella

Daniella

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 20

Breed: Moorland Pony

Height: 11hh

Gender: Mare

Colour/Markings: Bay

Personality
Daniella is a confident, relaxed mare who is comfortable in a variety of situations. She stands politely for grooming and responds well to a calm, low-key approach rather than lots of attention. She loads and travels well and has previously been walked out around the site and local lanes, where she has shown herself to be calm and reliable in traffic.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Daniella has equine asthma, pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID) and equine metabolic syndrome. Because these have contributed to her getting laminitis before, Daniella's weight and grazing need careful management to maintain a healthy body condition. Despite this, her conditions can be easily managed with the use of low-dust bedding. (she is currently on shavings), soaked hay, and daily medication for her PPID and EMS.

Training Level:

Daniella is not currently in training. She is straightforward to handle and remains calm and cooperative for both the vet and farrier.

Daniella 's Past

Daniella came to us in 2018 after being signed over from another equine charity. Unfortunately, we have limited information about her life before that time.

Daniella 's Future

Rehoming Fee: £50

Daniella’s ideal home would be with other equines who have similar, restricted grazing needs. She will also need a home without electric fencing, as she does not reliably respect it.

She has shown a clear preference for adult handlers and would not be suitable for a home where young children are closely involved in day-to-day horse care. She has previously lived with both mares and geldings. She is content to be left on her own in the stable or field if she has access to forage.

Daniella is based at our Coombe Park site near Totnes, so prospective rehomers will need to be able to travel to meet her.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Daniella as she settles in her new home and can offer training and advice as needed.
