Personality
Bowie is a sweet, inquisitive youngster who enjoys spending time with people and the other ponies in his herd. He loves going out for walks and exploring new things, and he is good for both the vet and farrier.

Bowie has had training for all aspects of handling since being born. He is confident for the vet and farrier. Support will be provided to help his new carer continue with his training in line with the approach we use.
Bowie's Past
Bowie was born in the Sanctuary in 2025 to his dam Margaret who was part of a large-scale welfare operation.

Bowie's Future
Rehoming Fee: £500
Bowie’s ideal home would be one where he can continue to live with suitable companions, ideally another youngster, as he enjoys play and interaction. He could live with mares or geldings and would be happy living out 24/7 or following a part-stabled routine. He is currently used to living out with us.
He has not been left alone in a field or stable, so he will need a permanent companion and a gradual introduction to spending short periods by himself. Bowie would suit someone with experience of youngsters and a genuine interest in positive handling methods.
Bowie has the potential to be backed when he is fully mature. His rider and tack weight will be set at 15% of his ideal adult body weight.
He is based at Honeysuckle Farm in Newton Abbot, Devon, and applicants will need to visit him a minimum of two times.
We are currently carrying out assessments to determine whether Sherlock and Bowie would be happiest remaining together, or whether they could be successfully rehomed separately. We would be happy to discuss their individual needs and the assessment process in more detail over the phone.
Our lovely Icelandic Horses have always lived in large herds, and wherever possible we would like them to remain together. However, we are happy to consider a range of rehoming options to suit their needs and those of their new carers. They can be rehomed individually, as a pair, or as a small herd. We will look at each placement carefully, based on each applicant’s experience, facilities and ability to provide suitable companionship.
