Blisland Boo Boo

Blisland Boo Boo

Available

Rehome Classification: Companion

Age: 15 years old

Breed: Moorland

Height: 12.2hh

Gender: Gelding

Colour/Markings: Skewbald

Personality
Boo adores people, possibly more than other ponies. He flourishes with human attention and shows that he really enjoys the interaction. He likes to be spoken to as you approach him, and this must be done in a calm and relaxed manner. He loves to be walked out and clearly benefits from one-to-one attention from his handler. He also appreciates space and doesn't like to be too crowded. Boo’s favourite treat is anything minty.

Health and Training

Health Status:

Boo has limited vision and is possibly blind on his left hand side. He also has sarcoid history and treatment. We have a sarcoid policy in place if he needs any further treatment in the future. We will cover the full cost of any future sarcoid treatment, and every sarcoid case must be assessed and treated individually. We have a procedure in place to ensure the equine's welfare is to the highest standard and that the most ethical treatment plan is put into place.

Training Level:

Boo responds well when handled in a calm and relaxed manner with a trainer who is respectful of his limited vision on his left hand side.

Blisland Boo Boo's Past

Boo came to us in 2018 when we merged with another equine rescue charity. We don’t have any details of his past before that time.

Blisland Boo Boo's Future

Rehoming Fee: £50

Boo would benefit from a home where there is a one-to-one relationship as he thrives with the attention. Nothing seems to faze him, even with his limited vision. Once he trusts his handler, he is happy and responds well. He would suit a novice home due to his kind temperament.

Boo cannot be stabled and is unsettled when his friend leaves him so would need a constant companion with access to a field shelter or crew barn.

Our Rehoming Advisors are available to help every day of the year. We will work to support you and Boo as he settles in his new home and can offer training and advice as needed.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
