Deputy Shop Manager (Torquay)

Salary: £25,173 per annum pro rata (Band H.2)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Deputy Shop Manager to join our team. This is a part-time role (30 hours per week, across 4 days out of 7 with some weekend working). The role is based at our Union Street shop in Torquay but with flexibility to cover other shops when needed.

You’ll support the Shop Manager to drive income, deliver excellent customer service, and create a welcoming and well-run shop that reflects the values of our charity.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provide a warm, friendly welcome for customers, donors, and volunteers. Encourage Gift Aid sign-ups, support volunteer inductions and training, and resolve queries with professionalism.
Work with the Shop Manager to meet sales targets and budgets. Keep an eye on local trends and opportunities to boost performance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting shop. Ensure health and safety standards are met and that any issues are reported promptly.
Process donations, ensure Gift Aid stock is prioritised, and present items attractively for maximum sales potential.
Handle cash, valuables, and till transactions accurately and always follow our procedures.
Be willing to work in different shop locations when required.

What You’ll Bring:

Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Confidence in managing volunteers and supporting colleagues
Knowledge of health and safety in a retail environment
Strong IT and social media skills
Good financial awareness

Please note: This role requires a DBS check, proof of right to work in the UK, and proof of business use on your car insurance. Due to the location of our shops and sanctuaries, a full driving licence is desirable.
